Clevedon is a semi-rural settlement in South Auckland. Officially it is part of Manukau City, which
is one of four cities that make up the conurbation of Auckland. A conurbation is an urban area
which comprises a number of cities, towns, or villages which have physically merged to form one continuous built up area due to population growth. Clevedon is 14km from Manukau City and
located on the Wairoa River which flows out into the Tamaki Strait, an arm of the Hauraki
Gulf. This are has several award winning vineyards and is known for its polo ground. South
of Clevedon are the Hunua Ranges. The pictures that follow were randomly taken as we
drove through rural Clevedon on a typical Auckland winters day - sunny one moment,
overcast and rainy the next.

This image was taken at the top of Whitford Road, overlooking
Mangemangeroa Estuary where you leave the suburban
world to step into the rural world
A field full of snowbells
Newly planted vineyards creating interesting lines

On a farm called 'Meadowbrook' we saw these lambs.
Spring must be in the air
The current count of sheep in New Zealand now stands on 40,000,000
A footbridge used by sheep
How green is my valley ....
Winter is still evident in these trees
Amazing what you will find when you go running after lambs!
A broken down silo
I like this image with the trees as backdrop to the farmhouse
Higland cattle do great in New Zealand as cold weather and snow have little effect
on them. Despite their long horns, the Highland is considered even-tempered - the
bulls as well as the cows. They do not stress easily and must obviously be very
inquisitive as these came running to the fence to see what I was up to
Alongside the road we found trees with blossoms.
Spring must definitely be in the air .....
